Real Del Mar – Private Community, Golf Resort and Country Club
Hidden away in between hills next to the Pacific Ocean about 15 minutes south of the San Ysidro Border, you will find a community that is well suited for retirees or families; its location is great for commuters or people who travel to San Diego often.
Real del Mar Golf Resort and Country Club has been considered one of the safest communities in northern Baja, and the residents are working hard to keep it that way by creating a Security Committee in 2007 and establishing regulations to ensure safety and peace of mind of residents and homeowners. This gated community with 24-hour surveillance has been around for almost 20 years, undergoing several expansions due to its success; it currently has 9 sections, Estancias, Quintas, Cañada, and Amalfi are some of them, with more underway. You have the choice to either purchase lots for a custom dream home, or an existing home with a view of equestrian fields, surrounding lands, golf course, or ocean view, all worthy Baja real estate investments.
The traditional architecture with the red rooftops and the development layout gives the area a small village kind of feel. Just imagine yourself falling asleep with the sound of the ocean waves crashing, waking up to see the Islands outside your window, or having a front-row seat to beautiful sunsets every day.
Its popular 18-hole golf course with its over 50 bunkers, 6 lakes, and 11 of the 18 holes overlooking the ocean is a challenge for any player with the breeze constantly blowing. They host the annual Real Del Mar Golf Tournament and several others which have helped fund some local charities.
Real del Mar also has one of Baja’s nicest Equestrian centers, offering lessons at every level and for all ages as well as sand tracks and grass tracks for riding; they also provide boarding, veterinary, and transportation services for horse owners. But suppose you don’t like golf or horses but still want to stay in shape. In that case, you will also find a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, a fitness center with individual and family memberships, yoga, aerobics, and karate, or take a long walk enjoying the view and atmosphere. After you are all done getting your workout, you can pamper yourself in the spa with their aromatherapy body and facial treatments, all this without having to drive to the scenic road and into town.
For dining choices within the resort, there is Pedrin’s, the clubhouse restaurant, Rincón San Román for some fine French Mexican cuisine, and the Habana Café and Sushi, there is also a small shopping plaza and mini market within the resort. Suppose none of the Real del Mar’s restaurants fit your cravings. In that case, a short drive will take you to Playas de Tijuana, known to all locals for the variety of dining options, you can have your pick from salads to traditional Mexican food, pizza, burgers, Chinese, and bakeries for your sweet tooth, plus you have the Cinema Star movie theaters at around half the price from those in San Diego, supermarkets for your groceries and shopping centers for your other needs.
Families living in Real del Mar have a private school right next to the Las Brisas section of the community; Colegio Reina Isabel is a 100% bilingual school from preschool up to 9th grade with excellence as their primary objective. Playas de Tijuana has some of the most renowned bilingual private schools in Tijuana.
Picture a sunset wedding with the ocean as a backdrop, and with several clubhouses throughout the community it’s a great place to host a reception or any kind of party; as well as suitable for conventions, seminars, lectures, and other group activities you can think of.
With the Residence Inn by Marriott in Real del Mar, you can experience firsthand what it would be like to live in this Baja community by staying a weekend in one of the ocean-view suites, play a round of golf, ride around on a horse or drive a few miles south and visit the beaches in Rosarito, find out what living in Baja can be like.
